Monday Memories Week 5

Among other things, this week we have spent a lot of time in front of the t.v. watching the Olympics. I forgot how much I enjoy watching the events. I thought I really only liked the winter Olympics, but I was wrong. My favorites to watch are the gymnastics (women and men), beach volleyball, water polo, and diving. All of it is cool to watch, and watching makes me feel lazy and fat. LOL.

For our "end of July" party, we started making blankets. Here is one side of the blanket (it's upside down, so the bumps go the other way)

and here's the other side. Put them both together and you get...

A nice, warm, fuzzy blanket that is fun to cuddle with!!

What do you do with the left over pieces?? You work on your Blanket Ninja skills :)

Here is Laura's blanket (silky purple with a pink bubble like my green one)

Last week, the kids were at their grandparent's house for the week, so we had a quiet house (which is why we did blankets). We decided to check out the Boeing Museum of Flight. As we were pulling into the parking lot, we were greeted by the Blue Angels. I wish we could have seen them in flight, but seeing them sitting there was cool too.

We got to walk on and take a tour of this "Air Force One" jet.

at least they have seat belts to keep them safe

who knew?!

Inside the museum there were tons of planes everywhere. Here is a shot of a family member of my favorite plane (SR-71 Blackbird). This is the M-21 Blackbird. Smaller than the SR-71, but just as fast and just as cool.

This is the nose section of a downed SR-71 Blackbird that you could sit in the cockpit of. There was a line that was not moving fast, so I didn't sit in it... but there's always next time :)

I even went to space!!

On our way out, we stopped and got a tour of the inside of the Concorde

It was very narrow inside and I didn't get any pictures... it was just like a passenger plane, without any isle space to walk in. Haha. Did you know that, when in flight, the plane expands 10 inches!! Super crazy to think about.

While the kids were gone, I was able to finish my dolphin cross stitch.

On Saturday, Laura, James, and I were able to help make sack lunches for the YSA conference that was going on. We made just short of 600 lunches; with sandwich (which we had to make), cookie (which we had to bag), chips, drink, apple, napkin and condiments.
Here is a shot of one of two assembly lines we had going.

This is the assembly line I was working on; tho it doesn't look like much is going on. Ha.

Here are all the ham sandwiches

and all the turkey sandwiches

It was kind of fun, tho tiring. We started just after 9 and got done just before noon.
Since I got my dolphin cross stitch done, I started another one: can you guess what it is?

To make it easy, here's the finished product:
I started it on the 2nd and finished it on the 6th.
Since that one got done so quick, I started another one, but that's for next week's post.

Also last week, we watched Captain America,

The Avengers (awesome movie!)

and the Amazing Spider-Man
We actually went to two different theaters on the same day to watch the Avengers and Spider-Man. We ate dinner in between shows, and it was a fun day out. I really liked the Avengers. Spider-Man?? Eh. The effects were awesome, but I felt the story line was too slow and dragged on forever. Maybe seeing it after the Avengers wasn't fair, because of the difference in the action going on. Who knows. It is a movie I would watch again, tho... so no worries. Heehee.
I am down to one more blog post while I'm here. I will finish off my posts about my trip after I'm back in Utah. People in the ward keep telling me I need to move here. I keep telling them that I feel the same way and that when it's supposed to happen, it will.
Thanks for following my adventures!!! Check back next week to see what other craziness I get myself into ;)
