Update Post #1 of 2 - Girls Camp

I had the great opportunity this year to go to girls camp with the young women's group from my ward. It was from June 28 - July 2 at Payson Lake. It was a lot of fun - and hard work.
I went up with the YCL's early to help get camp all set up and ready. We stopped for a hike on the way there, and for some 'leadership training'. We hiked to this waterfall and ate lunch, then went on to camp.

After camp was all set up, we went on another 'hike'... we walked up the road to Payson Lake. Here's a view of it. It was so pretty.

Our first campfire gathering

This is the first year I've been able to go to camp with Crystal... and I'm glad! I have now been to girls camp with ALL of my sisters :)

We had visitors of the potgut sort :) They would chipper at us and make noise, then come into our site to eat things that were on the ground. Very funny characters.

Sock twinners!!! (in case you can't tell, we are both wearing M&Ms socks)

As a group, we hiked up to Payson Lake (a very long, round-about way). There were Columbines all over the place - I don't know how many other people saw them... but I sure did!

Ducks at Payson Lake

This picture is for shock value only...
Thank heavens he put his shirt on again!!

Many beautiful scenes at camp... sunrises and sunsets (tho, since I'm not a morning person, I didn't get any sunrises... oops)

Walking the balance rope... whatever it's really called.

What camp photo album would be complete without pictures of the fire? ;)

Ok, so maybe I got a semi-sunrise picture :)
Also, we camped by this lake, called Box Lake

Lots of activities around camp going on...
Hair styling,

Coloring pictures for kids in other countries,

making little boxes with a bell inside them.

The last night we were at camp, there was an Iron Chef competition. Each tent had to present their dish to the judges. It was a lot of fun!

For dessert...
Marshmallow topped with sauerkraut. Ya...

I tried it...

and ended up in a competition with another leader to see who could eat the most.
This face of an onlooker says it all...

the number to beat: 8.
I will not be competing in this competition again anytime soon, so don't ask :)

What a great girls camp!!
One final note: I was camp photographer this year. I took over 500 photos. I only posted some of my favorites here. I loved taking pictures at camp... hopefully I'll be able to go again next year!

Yay girls camp! I only went up for one day this year (a little stressed with the wedding) but had a great time while I was there. Looks like it was a lot of fun! Marshmallows and sauercraut (sp?) sounds disgusting. Was it any good? I'm doubting it. Hope you're having a fun summer!
