Jump Start

Nothing like being scared first thing in the morning to get your heart pumping! I got ready for work and walked outside to leave, got to the third step from the top, and stopped dead in my tracks. This wonderful creation was staring directly at me, and since I wasn't expecting her to be there, I had to catch my heart.

I looked around and saw three other deer. These two does and a buck. They were all just sitting on the ground chillin' and doing what deer do. In the three years I've lived here, I have never seen deer in the yard. I know they've been there... having to avoid their 'left behinds'... but not seen them.

I took a step to the next step up and made the first deer stand up. The buck also stood. I spoke quietly and motioned to them to stay there and I was sorry for disturbing them. *I know they didn't understand a word I said, but I did it anyway* Then I quietly walked down the sidewalk and was 'watched' the entire way.

On my way around the house I decided to take another picture of Ren and Stumpy. Since the weather has continued to be warmer, the snowmen look funnier and funnier. Here's Ren.

And Stumpy. He has lost one eye and the bus has almost completely fallen out of his mouth. He makes me laugh.
