This post starts a little before my vacation... Last Tuesday I got to meet up with Allison, who was in town for a visit to her in-laws. We went to lunch, and got back to my apartment when we found out the mountains in Alpine were on fire. Here's a picture with the fire behind us (this was a few hours after it started).
This is the third major fire I've seen on our mountains since we moved in. So sad to see and watch the destruction.
That night I stayed up until 4:30 watching the fire lines move. It was hard to watch. At one point, the edge of the fire line looked like a laughing demon face. It made the hair on my neck and arms stand up. Creepy.

The next day (Wed), the fire continued to eat the mountain. I turned to look at the sunset behind me and this is what I saw:

When that patch of pine trees started on fire, it lit up the sky. These are not the biggest flames, but they give you an idea. Within 20 mins of this picture, the flames were so huge that they could be seen down at Thanksgiving Point.

Thursday night I met up with Laura at the airport (she was dropping off her husband) so that I could drive home to Washington with her and the kids. Our first stop was in Logan to visit with Linda, Laura's sister. I got my hair colored - thanks, Leisha!!

Saturday we drove up Hyrum canyon for a family party at Linda's husband's family's property. Before we got there, I was able to meet up with Avery (my niece) for a few minutes. It was good to see her again :)
Up at the property, the kids played in the river on their "boat". There was wiffle ball, Bocce Ball, frisbee, water guns, yummy food, and laughter :) We all had a good time up the canyon.

On our way back to Linda's we went past the Logan Temple and I got quite a few shots of it, this one is my favorite (because of the sun reflecting off the window)

Because we couldn't have fires up the canyon, the kids were able to play with glow sticks when we got back to the house. It was a lot of fun.

Sunday, we were going to start the drive back to Washington, but Saturday night, one of Laura's kids got sick :( So we postponed for a day. Yesterday (Sunday), the other one got feeling funny. We were going to leave today then, but there was more throw-up, so we're waiting another day.

So, I'm still in Logan hanging out with Laura, Linda, Cody (Linda's husband), and 5 kids :) Hopefully the kids will be better soon and we can be on our way.
Check back next week for this weeks adventures!!
