The other day, I was sitting at work and the phone rang. I answered it, heard a phone ringing sound (like I had called someone) then an older-ly woman answered the phone, "Hi. This is __________. I wonder if you could tell me your phone number there." I was so taken aback by this request that I hesitated before responding. "Phone number here? Sure." and I recited the phone number. She thanked me and we ended our conversation.
It was all I could do while I was talking to her to not say "are you kidding? you just called here and need to know the phone number?" I had a good laugh after the conversation, telling the other secretaries about it. It did occur to me that perhaps she had used a 'dialing service' such as 411 or something, so she needed the number here, but didn't have it (which would explain the phone ring I heard when I answered the phone).
Still, a very funny situation to pass around at the ol' campfire ;)

That is so funny! The other day we pranked people via Skype. We would set up a conference call between two friends and mute our end of it. When the friends would answer each person thought they were receiving a call from the other party. They would sit and ask things like, "why did you call me?" "What? I didn't call you, you called me!" Oh it was fun. The adult version of a prank call I guess. I'm a geek, what can I say.
