Back Against the Wall

I have been working at the school now for 8 years (only 7 of which I've been doing every recess...). When I bring the Kindergarten kids in, I walk backwards so that I can watch the kids and make sure they stay in line and don't fall down, etc. I have walked the path long enough that I know exactly where to walk so I don't run into stairs or poles or anything.

Today, as I was bringing the kids in, I had them wait for me by the fence because I was waiting for one of the girls to come out of the bathroom. She came out and we caught up with the rest of the class. As we walked into the parking lot (me walking backwards), my foot hit something, then my back hit something and I stopped.

You know in America's Funniest Home Videos when you KNOW someone is going to totally face plant into something because they're not paying attention; they turn around and they DO face plant into whatever is in front of them. You laugh your guts out because it is so funny, then reminisce about the times you've done that too.

Well, I didn't quite face plant, but I totally backed right into the brick wall!! If I tried to re-create the scene, I could not do it... I didn't hit my head, and my back hit the wall at exactly the same time (not shoulders first, or butt first - but at the same time). It startled me and I turned to look at the wall - I thought someone had stood behind me and I ran into them - then started laughing. The kids who saw thought it was funny too, they started laughing with me. I kinda knocked the wind out of myself, but I just laughed through it and couldn't wait to post it here. LOL.
